Jernbaneverket receives multi-purpose maintenance unit

NORWAY: Havard Vestgren, Director, Transport at infrastructure company Jernbaneverket presided at the handover of a two-axle multi-purpose maintenance vehicle in the InnoTrans outdoor display area on September 21. 

The Wintrak 2.2-52 L vehicle was the third of 21 units that Jernbaneverket ordered from Windhoff two years ago, a pair of units being already on test in Norway.

Powered by a 520 kW diesel engine, the vehicle has been designed to cope with temperatures as low as -40˚C and has a maximum speed of 100 km/h. It is able to undertake a wide range of track and overhead line maintenance tasks.

Windhoff Bahn- und Anlagentechnik is also exhibiting a range of other equipment including rolling stock lifting jacks and shunters; the company has rebranded following a recent change in share ownership.Manfred Schmitz, CEO at Windhoff, said that the vehicle marked the company's re-entry into the two-axle maintenance machine market.
