EGYPT: This month Czech supplier AZD Praha will begin work on a €10m contract to provide modern signalling and interlocking equipment for a tram route in the Egyptian city of Alexandria.

AZD will be responsible for installing new traffic signals, CCTV and specially modified level-crossing equipment on the city’s double-track rapid tram line between El Sayed Mohamed Korayem and Ras El-Tin Palace.

Work is due for completion in April 2010.
