PAKISTAN Railways was expecting to launch a dedicated wedding coach into service during December. The special vehicle is available for charter by wedding parties, and will be attached to inter-city trains for travel to and from ceremonies.

The air-conditioned coach has a bridal suite and five bedrooms providing sleeping accommodation for the married couple and 26 guests, as well as a kitchen, dining area, lounge and two bathrooms.

  • CAPTION: According to an official answer given in the Indian parliament, in 2006-07 a total of 50 472 male passengers were caught travelling in women-only carriages on the country's railways. The ministry said this raised a total of Rs7·7m in fines, up from the Rs6·3m collected in 2005-06
