Expanding Indian expertise

13 August 2010

INDIA: The Golden Rock rolling stock workshop at Tiruchirappalli in India is developing a prototype high-capacity tank wagon using designs produced by the Research Design & Standards Organisation, and is also undertaking staff training for a number of African railways.

Following the export of metre-gauge locomotives to Benin, Golden Rock has provided technical training on diesel locomotive maintenance in India. Similar programmes have been run for personnel from Tanzania, Senegal Mozambique and Sudan, supporting Golden Rock's export of metre gauge locomotives made redundant by Indian Railways' gauge conversion programme.
