UK: The first of 58 eight-car trains of S stock being built by Bombardier Transportation for the Metropolitan Line was handed over to London Underground on October 21.

Following further testing, the pre-series train is due to enter passenger service in 2010. The majority of testing has been undertaken at the Old Dalby test track, 'enabling final testing to be carried out in normal engineering hours' according to LU.

Delivery of the remaining S stock for the Metropolitan Line is scheduled to be completed by 2011, 50 years after the first A60 trains which they will replace started carrying passengers.
