GE Transportation invests in engine facilities

12 January 2012

USA: Investments of $35m in a new plant to remanufacture diesel engines in Grove City, Pennsylvania, and an additional $37m in its existing engine facility there were announced by GE Transportation on December 27.

The company is expecting demand for remanufacturing services to increase significantly, driven by routine locomotive overhaul cycles and the need to comply with EPA Tier 3 emissions standards by 2013.

Remanufacturing at the new facility is scheduled to begin by the end of 2012, and GE anticipates taking on 150 additional employees by early 2013.
