Loco roll-out

USA: Pennsylvania-based mining and industrial locomotive builder Brookville Equipment Corp has unveiled the first of 16 BL20GH diesels it is supplying for freight and commuter services in the New York area.

Six are for Connecticut Department of Transportation, six for Metro North and four for use on Staten Island.

The 132 tonne 2 000 hp locos have MTU Detroit Diesel Series 12v4000 engines, a Caterpillar C14 head-end power unit and Kato alternators.

  • CAPTION: This ConnDOT loco in the colours of the fomer New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad will operate commuter services on the Northeast Corridor between New York City, New Haven and New London.
