Mexican plant lease agreed

10 November 2007

THE GREENBRIER Companies announced on October 1 that it had reached an agreement for a long-term lease of GATX Corp's wagon maintenance facility at Tierra Blanca in Mexico.

The Gunderson Rail Services business unit will operate the Tierra Blanca shop to service wagons for GATX and other customers in Mexico. GATX has a fleet of around 6 000 wagons in Mexico, and has operated the Tierra Blanca site since 1994 when it was purchased from the former national railway FNM.

The 34 acre facility offers full-service tank car and general wagon repairs, including cleaning, painting and lining.
