POLAND: Slovakian wagon manufacturer Tatravagónka Poprad has completed its acquisition of a 49·56% stake in Polish wagon manufacturing and repair company Fabryka Wagonów Gniewczyna from Orliston Enterprises Limited for an undisclosed price.
Tatravagónka will take over management of the Polish firm. It hopes use the new acquisition as a springboard to penetrate the Polish freight market, which Tatravagónka says is the second largest in Europe.
FW Gniewczyna was established in Podkarpackie voivodship in 1984. It produced 250 wagons in 2009, and also provides rolling stock components, modernisation services and large welded construction s ervices for Polish and export customers.
