Veolia Cargo sale finalised

FRANCE: On December 1 Veolia Environnement announced that its Veolia Transport subsidiary had finalised the sale of Veolia Cargo to Transport Ferroviaire Holding and Europorte 2.

Eurotunnel subsidiary Europorte 2 is acquiring Veolia Cargo's businesses in France, which include Socorail, Veolia Cargo France, Veolia Cargo Link and CFTA Cargo.

SNCF -owned Transport Ferroviaire Holding is acquiring Veolia Cargo's activities in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. Veolia Environnement said the sale is worth €103m and forms part of a €1bn asset disposal programme announced in March 2009. Veolia Cargo has around 1 260 staff and 200 locomotives, and in 2008 handled 4·5 billion tonne-km generating turnover of €188m.
