11 July 2008

UK: Wabtec Corp announced on July 10 that its UK subsidiary Wabtec Rail, based in Doncaster, had been awarded a £26·3m contract to refurbish 308 Class 321 EMU cars for HSBC Rail. Work on the National Express East Anglia fleet is due to take three years to complete, and will include 'a range of specified enhancements designed to optimise life-cycle costs and performance’.

'The contract represents a significant breakthrough for Wabtec Rail into the refurbishment of transit cars fitted with electric traction, and it demonstrates our continuing successful relationship with HSBC Rail’, said Albert J Neupaver, President & CEO of Wabtec Corp.

HSBC has previously awarded Wabtec contracts to maintain the Class 91 locomotive fleet and overhaul passenger bogies.
