POLAND: The final section of Warszawa’s first metro line between Slodowiec and Mlociny was completed on October 25, an event celebrated with an afternoon of free travel on November 1.
The 20 km line with 21 stations has taken 25 years to build. Although construction of Line 2 has been delayed, feasibility studies are underway for Line 3. Spanish company Sener has recently completed a technical proposal recommending the route for an 8·5 km section with 9 stations, running east-west through the south of the city to link with Line 2 at Stadion.
