Westinghouse Rail Systems becomes Invensys Rail

02 September 2009

INVENSYS: Renaming of Westinghouse Rail Systems Ltd to Invensys Rail with effect from September 1 marked the start of an international rebranding which will bring the companies within the Invensys Rail Group under the Invensys Rail banner over the next few months.

This reflects ongoing co-operation between UK-based Westinghouse Rail Systems and fellow IRG companies Safetran Systems in the USA, Dimetronic Signals in Spain and Westinghouse Rail Systems in Australia.

'We recognise that we are increasingly operating in a global environment and bringing together businesses of such pedigree under one banner will considerably add to the breadth and depth of resources at our disposal', said Invensys Rail Managing Director Alistair McPhee.

'Throughout its history the business has been known by a number of different names, and the change to Invensys Rail brings together even more closely three of the strongest names in rail signalling across the world - with the new company sharing and building on the skills, expertise and experience of each.'

The Westinghouse name will be retained for many of the company's products.
