Visa has launched Visa Global Transit Solutions with the aim of accelerating the roll-out of bank card payment on public transport. ‘We want to make the transportation experience faster, easier and more secure whether someone is traveling by car, flying on holiday or taking public transportation to work‘, said Michael Lemberger, Head of Products at Visa in Europe, on November 13. ‘We are applying the expertise which has led to more than one billion Visa contactless journeys on Transport for London to help mass transit operators around the world move away from cash and tickets to contactless payments on buses and trains.‘

STM-Service has opened a facility in Chelyabinsk which will use telematics to monitor the performance of Sinara Type 2ES6 locomotives operated by Russian Railways in the region.

Wagon repair company Caltrax has begun using RailcarRx’s cloud-based Repair Management System to manage its daily operations in western Canada. ‘When we switched to RailcarRx 2015 from our previous provider we were taking a calculated risk’, said Derek Kissick, President of Caltrax Inc. ‘However, RailcarRx has been a valuable partner by allowing us to continuously improve visibility at the shop level, developing new functionality within RMS, and offering integration to our accounting software.’
