TURKEY: Bombardier Transportation has won a €94m order to supply 30 Flexity Swift high-floor light rail vehicles to Bursa Metropolitan Municipality.

The contract announced on August 29 includes the supply of spare parts, and Bombardier said an option for up to 28 additional vehicles is 'foreseen'. The bidirectional air-conditioned cars will be manufactured at Bombardier's Bautzen plant in Germany, with bogies from Siegen and Mitrac electrical equipment from Mannheim. Deliveries will run from the second half of 2010.

The first section of the 21 km Y-shaped BursaRay light rail network opened in 2002, with a fleet of Siemens B80D cars based on vehicles supplied to Bochum.
