Cool in the desert

SAUDI ARABIA: To cope with desert temperatures of up to 55°C, the eight 200 km/h trainsets which Saudi Railways Organisation ordered from Spanish rolling stock manufacturer CAF in July 2008 are to be fitted with a comprehensive cooling system from Voith Turbo.

The push-pull trainsets will have five coaches and a diesel-electric power car which will have a hydrostatic roof-mounted cooling system for its two MTU 1800 kW diesel engines, as well as an IGBT inverter cooling tower, and driver motor and machine room ventilati

  • Taiwan Rolling Stock Corp has chosen Voith Turbo to supply T211 re4 transmissions for use on two 120 km/h overhead inspection vehicles ordered by Taiwan Railway Administration.
