CROATIA: The Central Finance & Contracting Agency has awarded a consortium of Bombardier and Italian firm Site SpA a €16m contract to install Interflo 250 ETCS Level 1 equipment between Vinkovci and Tovarnik.

The 33·5 km line to the Serbian border forms part of Pan-European Corridor X between Austria and Greece, and is being upgraded to permit 160 km/h running.

Bombardier will supply and commission EBI Lock 950 computer based interlockings and wayside equipment, and will undertake testing using a train equipped for ETCS Level 1.

The company has previously supplied EBI Gate level crossing equipment for the route. 'As well as introducing our ERTMS technology to a new market, this is an important contract for Bombardier within Europe, as this line forms part of an interoperable ERTMS Corridor,' said Anders Lindberg, President of Rail Control Solutions at Bombardier Transportation.
