Frankfurt LRV handed over

01 July 2008

GERMANY: Frankfurt Transport Authority VGF has taken delivery of the first of 146 Flexity Swift light rail vehicles which are being built by Bombardier. A further 11 will be supplied from the Bautzen factory this year, with deliveries continuing until autumn 2015.

The bi-directional vehicles have been custom designed for use on route U2 from Frankfurt to Bad Homburg and U3 to Oberursel. 54 of the LRVs will be 25 m long, while 92 will be formed into 50 m coupled pairs, providing 96 seats and space for up to 380 passengers. Multiple running of 100 m sets will also be possible.

'With their contemporary design, the 146 vehicles will have a positive impact on Frankfurt's cityscape', said Bombardier Transportation's Chief Operating Officer, Wolfgang Tölsner.
