St Pancras Station

03 November 2007

Book review

by Simon Bradley

RELEASED in paperback to coincide with this month's launch of Eurostar services from the famous London terminus, the book is part of the 'Wonders of the World' series on the architectural history of iconic structures from the Temple of Jerusalem to the Alhambra.

Written by an editor of the 'Buildings of England' series of guidebooks founded by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner, the 194 pages trace the station's history, its place in the English gothic revival, the defeat of now almost unthinkable plans for demolition in the 1960s, and its future as the international gateway to Britain.
