Stadler expands to grow

07 October 2009
Stadler double-deck train for Zürich.

SWITZERLAND: A ground-breaking ceremony on October 2 marked the start of construction of Stadler's IBS Centre rolling stock commissioning facility.

It is being built on a former tank farm site at Erlen in the canton of Thurgau, alongside Swiss Federal Railways' Zürich - Romanshorn line.

The IBS Centre will include a 162 m by 42 m hall with seven tracks, two electrified. This will provide Stadler with a facility able to accommodate trains up to 150 m long, including double-deck stock for Zürich S-Bahn services and 50 Flirt units ordered by Norway's NSB.
