Dongguan metro train order signed

10 Jul 2012

CHINA: CSR Nanjing Puzhen is to supply 20 six-car trainsets for the future Dongguan Rail Transit metro Line R2.

The 860m yuan contract signed on June 26 requires the first train to be delivered by the end of December 2013, with all 20 to arrive by February 2015, in time for the scheduled opening of the line.

Dongguan Rail Transit has opted for Type B trains, which it feels are most suitable for a 'second tier' city. The aluminium-bodied six-car sets will have a capacity of 1200 passengers, with four motor and two trailer cars and a top speed of 120 km/h. Bombardier Transportation and New United Group will supply CSR Nanjing Puzhen with Mitrac propulsion and control equipment under a 102m yuan contract.

Construction of the 37 km Line R2 from Shilong to Humen Coach Terminal with 14 stations began in January 2011. It is intended as the first phase of a planned four-line network which would total 194ยท4 km and 55 stations.
