UKRAINE: A test train ran to the new southern terminus of Kyiv metro Line 2 at Teremki on August 23. The 1·4 km extension is due to open for passenger service in October.

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov visited the new station and boarded the test train, one of a fleet of new trainsets produced by Russian manufacturer Vagonmash. The first 10 cars were displayed to the public at the Obolon depot earlier this month. The order is financed by a €40m loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development, which covers the purchase of 10 five-car trainsets.
