USA: Denver Regional Transportation District inaugurated the A Line between Denver Union station and Denver International Airport at 12.00 on April 22, launching two days of free travel.

The 37 km route is the first suburban rail line to open under the RTD’s FasTracks programme. Built at a cost of $1·2bn, it was known as the East Rail Line during construction and is now officially the University of Colorado A Line under a naming rights agreement.

Services run every 15 min every day except Sunday. End-to-end journey time is 37 min, and eight stations are served. The line is electrified at 25 kV AC and uses four-car electric multiple-units supplied by Hyundai Rotem from its Philadelphia assembly plant.
