Phase 1 of the Bangalore metro has been completed with the inauguration of the southern section of the Green Line.

INDIA: Phase 1 of the Bangalore metro was completed on June 17 with the inauguration of the southern section of the Green Line. Passenger services started the following day.

The 12 km extension from Sampige Road to Yelachenahalli takes the north-south Green Line to 24·2 km. Interchange with the east-west Purple Line is provided at Majestic.

Services operate between 05.00 and 23.00 at peak frequencies of 6 min using 27 three-car trainsets supplied by BEML. Another 23 trainsets are in operation on the Purple Line.
