Hübner has a major order to supply gangways for New York City Subway trains.

USA: Having secured a major order to supply the gangways for new New York City Subway trains, Hübner has announced plans to build a elastomer product factory at Dunlap in Tennessee by 2020.

This is to produce moulded parts, silicone seals and sensor-equipped rubber profiles for the US rail and bus markets, and well as sealing systems for the oil and gas sector. It would have up to 50 employees in the first phase.

Hübner has been producing gangways for the US market at its Material Solutions facility in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, since 1995, and the opening of new factory will mean the group’s Mobility, Material Solutions and Photonics businesses will each have their own US sites.

‘We want to be able to serve the strong growth in the American mobility market directly from here in the USA’, said General Manager Ingolf Cedra. ‘Our European customers have also increased their presence in the USA and they want to be supplied on site with the same level of quality that they are accustomed to in Europe.’
