Mechan is to supply 20 lifting jacks, four turntables and 40 vehicle stands for Panamá City metro Line 2.

PANAMA: Depot equipment specialist Mechan is preparing to ship its first order for the the Americas, comprising 20 lifting jacks of 12 tonne capacity, four turntables and 40 vehicle stands for the depot which is being built in the Nuevo Tocumen area of Panamá City as part of the metro Line 2 project.

This is also UK company Mechan’s first project with French parent company CIM, which acquired it in March last year. CIM is part of the consortium which is supplying track, catenary and workshop equipment for the 21 km east–west Line 2, which is under construction for opening next year.

‘Since CIM’s takeover, our international development has accelerated dramatically and we are receiving enquiries from across the globe’, said Mechan’s Sales Manager Lindsey Mills on May 3. ‘The Panama project is particularly significant, as the Americas were the only remaining continents we had yet to supply.’
