GLink - The G:
Single light rail line opened 2014 serving 19 stops. See Gold Coast on Brisbane region network map.
Work on this line running north from Broadbeach South to University Hospital (13 km, 16 stops) began in 2010 and G:link services began on July 21 2014. The line was constructed under a build-and-operate contract by the GoldLinQ consortium of KDR Gold Coast Pty Ltd (a joint venture of Keolis and Downer EDI), McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd, Bombardier Transportation, and Plenary Group Pty Ltd.
A 7·3 km, three-stop northern extension from Gold Coast university Hospital to Helensvale heavy rail station commenced construction in July 2016, and opened December 17 2017 ahead of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018.
Work on a southern extension from Broadbeach South to Burleigh Heads started in 2022. This will follow the Gold Coast Highway central reservation to serve the Nobby Beach and Burleigh Heads districts (6·7 km, 8 stops), and is now expected to open in 2026.
