Nihon Min-ei Tetsudo Kyokai
This non-profit organisation was established in 1967 under the auspices of the Ministry of Transport and became a general incorporated foundation in 2012. Its main role is to promote development of private railways, and its activities extend to government and financial affairs, public relations, labour and trades union matters, and technology.
Its membership comprises the 16 major private railway groups, plus 56 other regional, local and freight railways.
