Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacyjne SA w Krakowie

First line opened 1882; network has 26 routes with 168 stops.

Krakow’s network includes sections of reserved alignment. A 1·4 km tunnel section by the central railway station opened 2008 as part of a north-south Fast Tram corridor, with a 1·4 km link between Wielicka and Lipska connecting the two southeast radial routes opened on August 31 2015. On August 28 2022 a link between the Kurdanów and Borek branches in the south opened (1·7 km, 2 stops).

A northern ‘fast tram’ extension from Krowodrza Górka to Górka Narodowa Zachód is under construction, opening as far as Papierni Pradnickich on September 4 2023 (3·6 km, 7 stops); the remaining section to Górka Narodowa opened on January 8 2024 (0·7 km, 1 stop), connecting to a park-and-ride and bus interchange close to the new northern bypass road.

Several other extensions in planning.

Since 2006 MPK’s role is to deliver a service as defined by the municipality’s transport department (ZiKiT).
