A 1·9 km, five-stop western branch to serve the Nicolaus Copernicus University at Uniwersytet in Bielany opened on June 24 2014, along with a 300 m north-south city centre link along Aleja Solidarności connecting the two main east-west lines.
On September 1 2023 revenue service began on a new route north from the city core network at Waly gen. Sikorskiego to Heweliusza (5·5 km, 13 stops), following a week of free rides.
