First line opened 1880, electric operation from 1910. Conventional tramway has 20 routes with 408 stops.
Extensive network of routes radiating from the city centre, service suspended on some sections. A north-south cross-city through service was inaugurated on September 13 2022; route 7 runs for 29 km over existing track from Torgivelnyi Tsentr Suvorovskyi south via the central station to 11 Stantsiya Lyustdorfskoyi Dorogy.
Tenders for a fleet of low-floor trams were called in 2021, and in December 2022 Odesa Tramway ordered a fleet of 13 units from a consortium led by Tatra-Yug.
