Xochimilco Light Rail / el Tren Ligero

This light rail line serves the southern outskirts of Mexico City. Connecting Taxqueña at the south end of Metro de la Ciudad de Mexico Line 2, it provides a feeder service from Coyoacán, Tlalpan and Xochimilco.
The line was formerly a suburban tram route opened in 1910, but closed in 1984 to enable major upgrading. It reopened as a light rail line in stages between November 1986 and November 1988.
