The initial section of Oberhausen’s modern tramway, extending Mülheim’s Route 112 at Landwehr via Oberhausen Hauptbahnfof to Sterkrade opened on June 1 1996. It is primarily on a segregated alignment and is operated jointly with Ruhrbahn.
Reopening of the route from Unterstraße (Essen) to Oberhausen Neue Mitte extending route 105 is being considered.
