TRAX light rail line opened 1999, now serves 50 stations. See Salt Lake City network map.

The Mid-Jordan (17 km, 10 stations) and West Valley (8 km, 4 stations) TRAX extensions opened on August 7 2011, the airport line on April 13 2013 (9·7 km, 6 stations), and the Blue line reached Draper on August 18 2013 (6·1 km, 3 stations), completing the FrontLines 2015 programme.

The FrontRunner commuter rail line opened on April 26 2008, north from Salt Lake City originally to Pleasant View, but cut back to Ogden from August 21 2018 due to avoid the cost of installing positive train control (PTC) signalling. Services were extended south from Salt Lake City to Provo on December 10 2012. Double-tracking, improved signalling and an expanded fleet are planned.

The S-Line streetcar line from Central Pointe to Sugar House opened in December 2013 (3·2 km, 7 stops).
