Opened 1991. Single line with nine stations.

The Prospekt Kosmonavtov – Mashinostroiteley section opened on April 26 1991 (3 stations), becoming the last and 13th metro to open before the dissolution of the Soviet Union. It was extended southwards in several stages, reaching Botanicheskaya on November 28 2011.

A second line is planned running east-west from Verkh-Isetskaya to Kamenye Palatkiy, with interchange to Line 1 at Ploshchad 1905 goda. A southwest-northeast third route is also projected.
