Alstom to supply 10 EMUs to Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

06 Aug 2019

FRANCE: Alstom is to supply the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region with a further 10 four-car Coradia Polyvalent multi-system electric multiple-units for €70m.

The region has previously ordered 17 similar units which are scheduled to enter service on the cross-border Léman Express route to Switzerland in mid-December 2019.

The latest batch is scheduled to be delivered between December 2020 and May 2021. They will operate mainly in the northeast of the region, creating a homogeneous fleet.

The trains will have a ‘suburban-style’ interior with 204 seats, individual reading lights and power sockets, wi-fi, air-conditioning which uses CO2 measurements to adjust to the number of passengers, bicycle areas, large windows, CCTV and low floors for easy access.

‘These new trains with high comfort levels, in compliance with the latest standards and accessibility requirements for people with reduced mobility, will incorporate the latest technology in terms of information and connectivity’, said Jean-Baptiste Eyméoud, President of Alstom in France, when the order was announced on July 30.
