DENMARK: København metro authority Metroselskabet announced on November 27 that it had selected contractors to build and fit out the southern section of Line M4.
The TUNN3L joint venture of Hochtief Infrastructure and Vinci Construction Grands Projets is to build 4·5 km of twin tunnels and five stations. A joint venture of Rhomberg Bahntechnik and Efacec Engenharia e Sistemas is to supply track, third-rail power supply and SCADA equipment.
Work on Line M4 is expected to begin in 2018, for opening in 2024. It would connect Orientkaj in the north with Sydhavn in the south, via part of the Cityringen circular route.
The southern section is being built at a cost of DKr9·1bn and is expected to be used by 29 000 passengers a day.
