Operates commuter service on the South Shore line (formerly the Chicago, South Shore & South Bend Railway, opened 1908), linking Chicago with Michigan City and South Bend. Following agreements made in 1990, NICTD now owns and/or leases all route and facilities relating to the passenger operation.
