Opened in 1896. Single circle line with 15 stations.

The Glasgow Subway is the world’s third-oldest metro. It consists of a small-profile circular route crossing the city-centre and looping out to the west, and is owned and operated by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport.

A contract for modernisation of the line was won by Stadler and Ansaldo STS in 2016. This covers a new train fleet, signalling and half-height platform edge doors. The first new train was delivered in May 2019.
