Suspended monorail − Wuppertaler Schwebebahn − operated on the Langen system, opened 1901; single route with 20 stations. See Wuppertal on the Rhein-Ruhr network map.

The fleet of vehicles was replaced in 2015-17 by Vossloh Kiepe, with power supply increased from 600 V to 750 V DC in 2016. Alstom supplied ETCS Level 2+ signalling, which was upgraded to ETCS Level 3 in August 2019.

The Schwebebahn parallels Rhein-Ruhr S-Bahn services along the valley, lines S7/S9 being operated by Abellio and S8/S68 by DB Regio.
