Virginia Department of Rail & Public Transportation

The department's Rail Division is responsible for freight and passenger rail initiatives, development of short line railways, facilitating provision of rail access for industry, and oversight of state rail funding programmes. DRPT also oversees the funding and provides technical assistance to the public transit agencies throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
