ISRAEL: Motorola Solutions has won a contract to supply Israel Railways with up to 3 000 push-to-talk over cellular mobile devices equipped with its WAVE group communication service, and to operate and maintain the network for three years. Hot Mobile will act as the mobile network carrier.

There is an option to extend the maintenance element of the contract to five years.

The system is intended to support operational communications across the ISR network, including offices, yards and depots, replacing the current Mirs integrated digital enhanced network platform.

Announcing the contract on June 24, Motorola said WAVE would eliminate the barriers between devices, networks and locations, allowing users with radios, smartphones, tablets and laptops to communicate seamlessly and share voice, text, photos and video with individuals or groups.
