Hungary: Audi has awarded DB Schenker Rail Hungária a contract to provide shunting services at its Györ automotive plant for a further three years.
Poland: Gdynia port authority has appointed Elkol to plan electrification and modernisation works to support a 40% increase in capacity on the 6 km rail link to its Baltic Container Terminal.
Saudi Arabia: Local media reports that SRO is to commission studies into a 350 km/h Dammam - Riyadh high speed line. It would either parallel the existing line which is being upgraded, or take a more direct route serving the cities’ airports.
Spain: RENFE has awarded Ferrovial Servicios a €252·8m contract to provide catering on high speed and long-distance services for four years from December 1, with a €126·4m option for a two-year extension. RENFE says demand for at-seat meal service has fallen by 25% over the last three years, and the new contract will reduce its annual outlay by 20%.
