Cross-border tram delivered to Strasbourg
FRANCE: Compagnie des Transports Strasbourgeois has taken delivery of the first of 12 Alstom Citadis trams ordered in 2014.
The €41m order forms part of a framework contract for up to 50 trams. The first of these are due to enter commercial service in April, with all 12 due to be delivered by May.
The trams have been ordered to serve the recently opened southern extension of Line A and the future extension of Line D to Kehl in Germany. The trams are therefore approved for German BOStrab standards.
Assembly of the 45 m long vehicles is taking place at Alstom’s La Rochelle plant, with components coming from Ornans, Tarbes and Villeurbanne. Bogies will be supplied from Le Creusot and Salzgitter. Each tram has capacity for 288 passengers and is equipped with wheelchair spaces and LED lighting.
