DB expands ICE-T fleet
GERMAN Railway announced on May 13 that it was ordering a further 28 ICE-T tilting high speed trainsets at a cost of €420m. Due for delivery between June 2004 and February 2006, the seven-car Class 411 units will join DB's existing fleet of 43 sets, designed to operate at up to 230 km/h.
The units are to be supplied by the Siemens-led ICT2 consortium. Siemens will supply all electrical equipment, and assemble 91 intermediate cars at its Uerdingen plant, with its share of the deal worth €256m.
