Railway Security in Brief
- Videalart has developed 'bolt-on' technology for CCTV networks which the London-based company says can convert cameras 'from passive observers to intelligent overseers'. Pre-programmed threat-specific rules enable the automatic detection of unauthorised movement and abandoned objects at stations and other locations.
- RUF Telematik has recently begun a programme to install 5 000 Axis 209MFD digital CCTV cameras on SBB's double-deck Zürich S-Bahn fleet by 2009. Power over ethernet means that only a single cable is required, while the compact 40 mm camera size allows installation on walls and ceilings.
