Strasbourg orders Citadis trams
FRANCE: Alstom has signed a framework agreement for the supply of 50 Citadis trams to Strasbourg. An initial 12 trams, worth €41m, are expected to enter service by the end of 2016.
The trams will be put into service on Line A and Line D, both of which are being extended and therefore need a larger fleet. Line A is being extended 1·7 km south to Illkirch-Graffenstaden and Line D is being extended 3·9 km over the German border to Kehl. The vehicles will therefore meet BOStrab standards.
The 45 m long trams will have capacity for 288 passengers and will include wheelchair spaces. They will be equipped with LED lighting and full glass doors. Assembly will take place at Alstom’s La Rochelle plant, with components coming from Ornans, Tarbes and Villeurbanne. Bogies will be supplied from Le Creusot and Salzgitter.
