Myanmar locomotive handed over
MYANMAR: The last of 18 diesel locomotives manufactured for Myanma Railways by Indian Railways’ Diesel Locomotive Works in Varanasi and supplied through RITES was formally handed over with a ceremony on March 19. The order had been financed through an Indian government credit line.
The 1 350 hp six-axle metre-gauge locomotives have ‘fuel efficient’ engines, AC-DC transmission, microprocessor controls and ergonomic cab interiors with TFT display units. Maximum speed is 100 km/h.
The first six locomotives were delivered last June, followed by six more in October.
