Australia: Pacific National has awarded UGL contracts worth A$594m for the supply of three 1 067 mm gauge PH37 PowerHaul diesel locos and three more Class 93 C44ACi locos, the continued maintenance of Siemens Class 71, UGL/GE Class 92/93 and Goninan Class NR locos until June 30 2026, and the maintenance of PN’s EMD loco fleet in Victoria.
Transport for New South Wales has ordered six Urbos trams from CAF for delivery in 2018, to operate the 2·6 km light rail line planned for Newcastle. Five bidders have been shortlisted for the infrastructure contract.
Austria: LTE Logistik & Transport has taken delivery of the first Bombardier Traxx AC3 Last Mile loco in Austria.
Canada: Canarail has awarded Ontario Northland a contract to refurbish 11 Rocky Mountaineer luxury coaches.
China: CRRC Qingdao Sifang has unveiled its first permanent-magnet monorail vehicles.
Chengdu Metro Corp has awarded Shanghai Alstom Transport Electrical Equipment Co a €40m contract to supply traction equipment for 48 six-car trainsets to operate on phases 2 and 3 of Line 3.
CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Rail Transport is to supply trainsets for Suzhou metro Line 3 under a 1·88bn yuan contract and trams to operate on an extension of tram Line 1 for 150m yuan.
CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Rail Transport is to supply rolling stock for Phase 2 of Hangzhou metro Line 2 for 640m yuan.
Honghe Prefecture Modern Tram Co has placed a 630m yuan order with CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Rail Transport Co for vehicles to operate on the Diannan Centre City Tramway Project.
Czech Republic: SBB has sold 25 B2073 coaches to RegioJet for SFr1m; SBB felt their poor condition and the presence of asbestos meant refurbishment would not be viable.
Europe: Evraz and Slovenian company SZ-VIT are supplying leasing company VTG with TSI-compliant wheelsets.
Germany: Berlin’s BVG has exercised a €140m option for 27 more Stadler four-car Type IK metro trainsets.
CTL Logistics has leased a further four Bombardier Traxx 140 AC locomotives.
Hungary: GySEV and EIB have agreed a €40m loan to fund the purchase of five electric locomotives.
International: On June 29 Bombardier announced a rolling stock services and maintenance contract worth €355m with an undisclosed customer.
Pakistan: PR has awarded CRRC Jinan a contract to supply a further 585 coal hopper wagons and 20 guard’s vans.
Poland: PKP IC has awarded Newag a 43m złoty contract to rebuild 16 Type 111A second class compartment coaches as open saloons with cycle spaces.
ZKM Gdask has selected Modertrans for a 7·98m złoty contract to modernise one Konstal Type 114Na and four Alstom Konstal Type NGd99 trams.
Tramwaje Elblskie has bought two 805N trams which MPK ód had reaplced with Pesa Swing cars.
Russia: Leasing company Biznes Alyans has awarded UWC’s Tikhvin plant a second contract to supply Type 12-9853 open wagons, taking its total order to 3800 worth 11·8bn roubles.
Lokotrans has signed a contract for UWC’s Tikhvin plant to supply 150 Type 13-6852 timber wagons this year.
United Grain Co has ordered an initial 1500 Type 19-9549 hopper wagons from United Wagon Co’s Tikhvin plant, as the first stage of a programme which envisages the formation of a fleet of 8500 wagons by 2020.
Sweden: On July 20 Hector Rail announced an order for five Siemens Vectron electric locomotives equipped for use in Scandinavia, with an option for 15. Two are already built and are to be delivered this year, while three to be delivered next year will have last-mile engines and remote controls for shunting.
Ukraine: UZ has awarded to KVSZ a 303m hryvna contract to supply 21 sleeping cars by the end of the year.
Kharkiv Metro has award KVSZ a 199m hryvna contract to supply a single five-car trainset later this year.
UK: GB Railfreight has awarded WH Davis a contract to convert 25 ex-GE Capital coal hopper wagons to carry aggregates. More are to follow as the operator expands its activities in this market.
Grand Central has awarded Alstom a €100m 10-year contract to continue to provide maintenance support for its Class 180 DMU fleet.
USA: CAF has finalised the contract to supply 26 five-section LRVs for the Purple Line in Maryland (RG 4.16 p16). The contract worth more than US$200m includes spare parts.
Charah has awarded Appalachian Railcar Services a contract for coal ash wagon maintenance and brake testing.
