GERMANY: To support Hamburg transport operator Hamburger Hochbahn’s plans to replace 1 000 diesel buses with vehicles offering no emissions at the point of use, software company PSI Transcom is to expand the PSItraffic depot management system which is used to plan operations at six bus depots.

The technology which was originally supplied in 2014 will be expanded with modules to ensure that both diesel and electric buses are adequately fuelled or charged, and that drivers have been allocated.

An E-DMS module will continuously check which bus at a depot is best suited for which route after how many minutes charging time. This means that not all electric vehicles will have to be simultaneously, permanently or completely charged, balancing the operator’s energy needs for the day.
